Description
Non Slip Marine Deck Paint
Marine non slip deck paint product name Universal PU Enamel is a single-pack polyurethane(PU) paint combined with an aggregate to make a rough, textured finish for extra grip to reduce the risk of slips. It's resistant to chemicals and regular washing with water, giving you a long-lasting finish.
Our marine non slip deck paint is ready to use straight out of the can. Apply it with a brush or roller.
Where can I use Marine Non Slip Deck Paint?
You can use non slip marine deck paint both internally and externally on the following surfaces:
- Metal
- Wood/timber/marine ply
- Concrete
- Primed fibreglass/GRP decks
This makes it the ideal marine paint for yachts, narrowboats and motorboats. It's best suited to areas of light foot traffic rather than heavy-duty commercial use.
For the most cost-effective and simple application, use our standard marine deck paint for the first coat. Apply a second coat 12-24 hours later using the marine non slip deck paint.
The non slip aggregate reduces the risk of accidents. However, like any painted surface, it can still be slippery when wet.

Painting over existing paint
Step 1 - Check suitability of the product to the existing paint. We recommend you try a sample area first.
Step 2 Clean and Abrade -
- Before you start, have your PPE ready as our paint is oil based so will not wash off easily with soap and water.
- Ensure substate is completely dry and is clean of any dirt, oil, or grease.
- Make sure the existing paint is in good condition prior to painting, then lightly abrade to provide a key for good intercoat adhesion.
- If there is flaking paint this must be removed prior to painting.
- When painting metal any parts that has rusted you will need to sand the rust back to the bare metal and spot prime with the appropriate primer.
Step 3 Prime – This step is down to personal preference, depending on the condition of the existing paint or if you are changing a dark colour to a light you may want to add one coat of primer.
Step 4 Topcoat- Once you have completed the following steps you can apply your top coat. Apply a second coat 12-24 hours after the first coat.
Application - Painting a bare substrate
Step 1 - Ensure substrate completely dry and is clean of any dirt, oil, or grease.
Step 2 Prime – Depending on the material you are painting will determine what primer you will need.
Wood- on your first coat we recommend you thin the first coat by 20% with White Spirit thinners. This is to ensure the paint impregnates the wood.
Metal - you will need to use a metal primer before this top coat.
Step 3 Topcoat – 12-24 hours after applying the primer you can add your first coat of topcoat. Wait another 12-24 hours and then apply the second coat.
