Etching Primers

Etching Primers are single pack metal primers composed of a combination of resins to promote adhesion to the various metal surfaces. A low level of phosphoric acid is present in these primers that etch the metal surface to improve adhesion, forming a physical and chemical bond. In most cases a colour will be added to the etching primers so that it can be seen. Etching primers are usually designed to work with either ferrous or non-ferrous metals or in some cases both. Etching primers provide adhesion to mild steel and bare aluminium achieving between the metal and other paint coatings.

With a shelf life of 12 months from batch date, the etching primers supplied by TA paints are touch dry in 20 minutes, over coat dry in 12-24 hours and fully cured in seven days.
