Description

Two Pack Epoxy Non Slip
Metal  Floor Paint
Two Pack Epoxy Non Slip Metal Floor Paint is suitable for use on suitable primed metal floors where heavy traffic will occur.

Two Pack Epoxy Non Slip is based on an epoxy resin that provides an excellent hard wearing coating once fully dry, with a mirror like gloss finish to concrete floors.

Epoxy paint with an aggregate already mixed in which makes a rough, textured finish that is ready to use of the can (after you have thoroughly stirred the paint) Which is perfect for use in areas prone to moisture or spillage.

The most cost effective way and ease of application is on your first coat apply standard smooth paint and then after 12-24 hours apply the second coat non slip

Please note although Epoxy coating’s offer the best chemical resistance and protection from the elements, the colours will chalk and fade in external applications.

Mixing Two Pack Epoxies

  1.  Make sure you use a broom stick, mixer on a slow running drill or pallet knife to mix (An egg whisk, screwdriver or small stick that doesn’t reach the bottom of the can is not sufficient enough)
  2. Mixing should take place for 3-5 minutes allow to stand for a minute and repeat.
  3. Mix the catalyst in to tub before tipping into a paint tray
  4. Ensure all the content is properly mixed to avoid colour and or drying problem.

Mixing Non Slip Paint

Ensure you stir your painting thoroughly prior to painting as the aggregate within the paint to make this product non slip may rise and sit onto of the paint. If the non slip is not stirred thoroughly and start to paint you will have a thick build of non-slip and as you use more of the paint the non slip will get less.

Easy to apply by brush and roller.

Two coats of paint are recommended for the best longest lasting finish,

Remember good preparation of the floor is paramount to an excellent long lasting finish. Make sure Floor is clean from dust, dirt, moisture, oil etc before painting. and never pre seal the floor prior to painting, especially with latex or PVC sealers paint will not stick.

Brushes and rollers will need to be solvent resistant.

Painting your Floor Step By Step

  1. The floor area must be clean and free from dirt, dust, oil, grease and be dry & clear of any other contaminants. Good preparation is key to a good finish.
  2. Before you start, have your ppe ready as our paint is oil based so will not wash off easily with soap and water.
  3. Stir the paint & catalyst together well before use (4-1 mixing ratio), with a paddle on a slow running drill or substantial stick.
  4. Thin the first coat by 10 percent, to assist good priming and sealing of the floor. A good tip is to use smooth two pack epoxy without the non slip for your 1st coat this helps keep costs down and make application easier.
  5. Before putting paint on the floor ensure you have good ventilation to allow vapor to escape, ventilation is also necessary to keep the drying times, if there is no air movement the coating cannot dry as well.
  6. Cut in around the edges first with a 2 to 3 inch brush, then work backwards towards your exit so as not to get boxed in.
  7. When painting large areas it's easier to pour the paint on the floor in stages, spread it out using a squeegee then back roll with a roller to release the air, to avoid having a bubbly finish as the air is trapped in the coating during the drying process.
  8. Apply a second coat 12-24 hours (overnight dry) after the first coat to build good colour and protection.

Application - Painting over existing paint

Step 1 - Check suitability of the product to the existing paint. We recommend you try a sample area first.

Step 2 Clean and Abrade -

  • Make sure the existing paint is in good condition prior to painting, then lightly abrade to provide a key for good intercoat adhesion.
  • If there is flaking paint this must be removed prior to painting.
  • For any parts that has rusted you will need to sand the rust back to the bare metal and spot prime with the appropriate primer.
  • Ensure substrate is clean of any dirt, oil, or grease

Step 3 Prime – This step is down to personal preference, depending on the condition of the existing paint or if you are changing a dark colour to a light you may want to add one coat of primer.

Step 4 Topcoat- Once you have completed the following steps you can apply your top coat.

Application - Painting a bare substrate

Step 1 Clean - Ensure substrate is clean of any dirt, oil, or grease.

Step 2 Prime – Depending on the material you are painting will determine what primer you will need.

Step 3 Topcoat – 12-24 hours after applying the primer you can add your first coat of topcoat. Wait another 12-24 hours and then apply the second coat.

Primers

Mild Steel – If you are painting mild steel you will need our Metal Primer to view this please Click here

Galvanised Steel – Once you have treated the galvanised steel with Mordant Solution (T-Wash) you will need our Metal Primer. Click here

Aluminium – The primer suitable for aluminium is One Pack Etch Primer. Click here

Concrete, Stone or Brick - No primer requiored 1st coat will prime and seal. You will find that these kind of substrates will be porous, we recommend that on your first coat thin by 20% to ensure it impregnates the substrate. Then after 12-24 hours apply the second coat un thinned.

Always stir any paint well prior to using, especially when using Two Pack products.

Make sure you use a broom stick, mixer on a slow running drill or pallet knife to mix and mixing should take place for 3-5 mins to ensure all the content is properly mixed together to avoid colour and or drying problems.

As our coatings are heavily pigmented separation can easily occur and you can have colour float, for example a green paint can seem blue before mixing, this is one of the reasons mixing your paint before use is essential.

Remember do not apply Two Pack Epoxy Paint in temperatures below 10 degrees centigrade cross linking of the paint and catalyst will not take place and the coating will never fully dry.

Two Pack Epoxy Resin Paint

Two Pack Epoxy Resin Floor Paint is based on a Industrial grade heavy duty 2 part resin system, making the prefered choice for floors as it is much harder wearing than the cheaper single pack coatings. Our product titles and images are for advertising purposes only, this product will arrive as Two Pack Epoxy that is suitable for concrete and suitably prepared metal floors, tins supplied will be similar to that shown above, manufactured and branded by our parent company B.C Paints Ltd, 1 & 2.5 litre cans are only ever supplied in plain white cans due to being a small family run company.
