Green fence paint is one of those choices that feels obvious once you've made it. The fence disappears into the garden, and everything else comes forward.

At TA Industrial Paints, we manufacture our green fence paints in-house at our Wolverhampton site, so there's no compromise on what goes into the tin. Our range covers six shades of green, from deep forest tones to brighter, more contemporary options.

UV-resistant, weatherproof and tough enough for year-round British conditions. Available in gloss and enamel finishes, in 1L, 2.5L and 5L.

Green Garden Fence Paint

Green garden fence paint does something no other colour quite manages. It makes the boundary feel like part of the planting rather than a hard edge around it. Against a lawn or a mixed border, the right shade of green reads as almost natural. It's particularly useful in gardens where the fence is prominent but you don't want it to be the first thing people notice.

What's in the range:

  • Green Wood Paint: available in 6 colour variants, from rich dark greens to mid-tones, in a gloss finish for timber

  • Green Enamel Paint: a hardwearing multi-surface formula, also in 6 colours, suitable for wood, metal, and more

  • Exterior Fence & Shed Paint: a multi-purpose garden paint with green options across its 32-colour range

  • Custom Fence & Shed Paint: a 3-in-1 oil-based PU enamel that primes, seals, and protects in a single coat

All products are touch dry in as little as 2-4 hours and can be applied by brush, roller or spray. Multi-buy discounts available, with free delivery on qualifying orders. Want help choosing the right shade of green for your space?

FAQs

What shade of green fence paint works best in a heavily planted garden?

Darker green paints (think forest or bottle green) tend to work best when there's a lot of planting around. They create contrast without competing. Lighter or more yellow-toned greens can get lost against heavy foliage. If your garden is mature with dense borders, a deep tone gives the fence some presence while still letting the planting lead. Our Green Wood Paint comes in 6 variants if you want to compare options.

Will green fence paint clash with my plants and lawn?

Green paint will rarely clash with your plants and lawn, if you pick the right tone. Green paint and green planting don't always match exactly, but that's not the goal. It's about harmony rather than coordination.

A cool-toned dark green reads as a neutral backdrop in most gardens. Where clashes do happen, it's usually a very yellow-green paint next to blue-toned foliage. If in doubt, order a sample before committing to a full tin.

Does green fence paint fade to a different colour over time?

Some green paints can fade over time, particularly cheaper paints where the pigment isn't UV-stable. Bright or yellow-toned greens are the most susceptible to sun fade, often shifting towards a washed-out olive.

Our green fence paints are UV-resistant, which significantly slows this down. Storing leftover paint for touch-ups is always a good idea, especially on south-facing panels that take the most sun exposure.

Can I use green fence paint on a concrete or brick garden wall?

Yes, our Exterior Fence & Shed Paint and Custom Fence & Shed Paint are both multi-surface formulas. They work on concrete, brick, stone, metal and wood. For porous surfaces like unrendered brick or bare concrete, a primer coat first will improve coverage and reduce how much topcoat you need overall. It's worth the extra step on thirsty surfaces.

Is green fence paint a good choice for shaded or north-facing gardens?

Green fence paint can work well for north-facing gardens, but shade affects how colour reads. Darker greens can feel quite heavy in a garden that already gets limited light. Something mid-toned or slightly cooler may feel more open. It's worth thinking about the light conditions at different times of day before committing.

Our team is happy to talk through specific situations. North-facing gardens in older terraced properties, for example, often need a slightly different approach than open, south-facing plots.
