Description
Solvent-Free Epoxy Floor Dust Clear Sealer is a high-performance clear epoxy coating which has been specially formulated to seal and protect concrete floors, preventing dusting as well as enhancing the surface with a high gloss finish. Ideal for both industrial and residential applications, this sealer forms a tough barrier that shields against moisture, chemicals, and heavy traffic.
Important Notice:
1: Do not apply two pack epoxy paint in temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius, as the cross-linking of the paint and catalyst will not occur, preventing the coating from fully drying.
2: While epoxy coatings are renowned for their superior chemical resistance and protection against the elements, it is important to note that colours may chalk and fade when used in external applications.
3: Please note clear is not a translucent clear due to the natural colouring of the resin this does have a yellow tinge.
About Two Pack Epoxy Solvent-Free Floor Paint:
- NEW 3-IN-1 TECHNOLOGY: Primes, seals, and protects with just two coats.
- HARD WEARING: Designed to withstand heavy use, making it ideal for areas where vehicles are regularly used, such as home and industrial garages and factories.
- TOUGH EPOXY FORMULA: Unlike single-pack floor paints, it will not lift under heavy traffic from cars and plant machinery.
- MIXING RATIO: is 4.220 kg of paint to 0.780 kg of catalyst.
- COVERAGE:5KG pack covers approximately 20 square meters. This does not account for the method of application, absorption of substrate or wastage.
- POT LIFE: Once catalysed, the pot life is approximately 45 minutes.
- DRYING TIMES: Full curing takes 7 days, but the area can be walked on after 4 days.
- THINNERS: T0200 Epoxy thinner (if required).
- Proudly manufactured in England by B.C Paints Ltd. Please note that images and product titles are for advertising purposes only; this product is supplied in BC Paints plain plastic tub.
Application - Painting Over Existing Paint:
Step 1 - Preparation: Check the suitability of the product for the existing paint. It’s recommended to test a sample area first.
Ensure there is good ventilation to allow vapour to escape; if there is no air movement, the coating may not cure properly.
Step 2 - Clean and Abrade:
- Ensure the existing paint is in good condition before painting.
- Lightly abrade the surface to create a key for good intercoat adhesion.
- Any flaking paint must be removed prior to painting.
- Ensure the substrate is free of any dirt, oil or grease.
Step 4 - Topcoat: Once you have completed the preparation and cleaning steps, you can apply your first coat of topcoat. Start by cutting in around the edges with a 2 or 3-inch brush, then work backwards towards the exit.
For large areas, it’s easier to pour the paint on the floor in stages, spreading it out using a squeegee. Then back roll with a roller to release any trapped air, which helps avoid a bubbly finish during the drying process. After 12-24 hours, apply a second coat.
Application - Painting a Bare Substrate:
Step 1 - Clean: Ensure the substrate is completely dry and free of any dirt, oil, or grease.
Step 2 - Prime: If you are using a product to fill cracks and holes, first prime the area with the same product using a brush. Allow it to set for 1 hour before pouring in additional product until the affected area is filled.
Step 3 - Topcoat: Once the previous steps are complete, apply your first coat of topcoat. Begin by cutting in around the edges with a 2 or 3-inch brush, then work backwards towards the exit.
For larger areas, it’s easier to pour the paint onto the floor in stages, spreading it out with a squeegee. Then back roll with a roller to release any trapped air, which helps prevent a bubbly finish during the drying process. After 12-24 hours, apply a second coat.
Mixing Advice:
-
Use a mixer on a slow-running drill to mix the paint and catalyst together. An egg whisk, screwdriver, or small stick that doesn’t reach the bottom of the can is insufficient for proper mixing.
-
Mix for 3-5 minutes, allow to stand for a minute, and then repeat.
-
Combine the catalyst into the tub before pouring it into a paint tray.
- Ensure all components are thoroughly mixed to avoid any colour inconsistencies or drying issues.
New Concrete:
New concrete floors require a curing period, typically ranging from 3-5 months after the floor is laid. This duration can vary based on the thickness and quality of the concrete. It’s advisable to consult with the supplier or fitter regarding the specific waiting time before painting.
Never pre-seal the floor prior to painting, particularly with latex or PVC sealers, as paint will not adhere properly.
